Las Vegas: Las Vegas Marching Arts, a local Non Profit has teamed up with area Lions Clubs said Randy N. Warner, Executive Director.

Striving for excellence, Las Vegas Marching Arts is beginning the process of taking the Southern Nevada Marching Honor Band to the Tournament of Roses Parade in Pasadena for 2011.  The organization has even received a ‘pre-approved’ application for the 2010 Olympics – pending the filmed application.

“We are holding auditions for students in all Southern Nevada schools on March 28, 2009 at Mojave HS from 9a – 3p in hopes of getting 200+ interested musicians,’’ Warner says. “We have local HS band directors offering to assist with instruction, facilities for rehearsal and all that goes along with this endeavor and want to make sure that all private schools and home schooled students are aware of this opportunity as well”

This morning, LVMA and the Southern Nevada Marching Honor Band featuring 'Vegas MOB' ( Masters of Baton),  the 'HIT MEN' (competitive percussion team) and '24/7' our competitive colorguard was invited to perform in the San Diego Holiday Bowl parade and nationally televised halftime spectacular.

Our own 'VocalMotion' parade choral troupe is also invited to perform following our antique firetruck in the festivities.

The kids will not be asked to pay a fee, but only to sell two tickets at $75ea  for our major fundraiser June 6 at UNLV at the Student Union Ballroom 7-9pm.

Due to the troubled economy, WE NEED THE HELP OF THE LOCAL MEDIA to help make this successful through volunteer work and donated items and services in lieu of cash.

We hope to get local and national music celebrities and shows to offer congratulatory videos for the kids and to offer items, services and show tickets for our fundraising efforts.

LVMA is proud to announce the partnership with the local LV based Lions Clubs to assist in preparation. Roy Madison, area Lions Club president said, 'We are please to provide this amazing opportunity through our partnership with LVMA and Ongoing community service to the young people of Southern Nevada'.   Roy Madison 702.260-0250

LVMA, Inc. is a registered non profit Nevada Corporation and a federally recognized 501c3 tax exempt organization that focuses on the enrichment of the current music programs in Las Vegas. Our goal is to bring society together by providing a safe, drug free environment for our young leaders of the future. The organization provides highly qualified educators who utilize the "Music Educators National Standards" to offer the utmost education for our children.

It takes the commitment of an entire community to assure that music is part of the core curriculum. Children engaged in music will be the innovation leaders of tomorrow, and there is no better way to build life-long participation in music than with a solid base of music education.

We could use volunteers, donations and almost everything imaginable for this endeavor. Let us know if you would like to offer time, money or much needed 'in kind' donations such as office products, office space, and of course,
music instruments.
